Moosend Review 2026: Is This Budget Email Platform Actually Good for a Small Business?

An in-depth Moosend review for small businesses covering 2026 pricing, automation, deliverability, the Shopify gap and how it compares with Mailchimp, MailerLite and Brevo.

The short version

Moosend is strong value for small businesses that want unlimited sends and a capable automation builder at a low entry price. It is a better fit for WooCommerce, WordPress or an independent site than for a Shopify-first store, and it has no free-forever plan or SMS.

If you're shopping for email marketing software as a small business, you've probably noticed that most "Moosend review" articles say the same three things: it's cheap, it's easy, and it has automation. All true. But none of that tells you whether it will actually work for your shop , whether it plugs into your store, what happens to the price when your list grows, or what the catches are.

This review goes further. I've gone through Moosend's sales pages, its pricing table line by line, its help documentation, its integrations directory, its automation recipe library, and hundreds of user ratings on G2, Capterra and Trustpilot, then compared all of it against nine competitors: Mailchimp, Brevo, MailerLite, GetResponse, ActiveCampaign, Sender, AWeber, Campaign Monitor and Constant Contact.

By the end you'll know exactly what Moosend costs at your list size, what you get for that money, what you don't, and who should choose something else.

Moosend Review: The Short Answer

Moosend is one of the best-value email marketing platforms for small businesses in 2026 , if you sell through WooCommerce, WordPress, or your own website, and you want real automation without paying ActiveCampaign prices.

Here's the quick verdict:

  • Price: Pro starts at $9/month for 500 contacts (about $7/month on annual billing), with unlimited email sends at every tier.
  • Best feature: The automation builder , 18 ready-made "recipes" and behaviour-based triggers that most tools hide behind expensive plans.
  • Biggest catch for product sellers: No native Shopify integration. Shopify stores have to connect through Zapier or a similar tool.
  • Other gaps: No free-forever plan (a 30-day trial instead), no SMS, A/B tests limited to two versions, and transactional emails aren't part of the standard Pro plan.
  • Ownership: Moosend has been part of Constant Contact since June 2025.

Who should buy it: WooCommerce sellers, bloggers, service businesses, newsletter senders and anyone leaving Mailchimp because of price. Who should skip it: Shopify-first stores that want a one-click integration, and anyone who needs SMS alongside email.

What Is Moosend?

Moosend is an email marketing and marketing automation platform built for small and mid-sized businesses. You use it to design and send newsletters, build automated email sequences (welcome series, abandoned cart reminders, birthday offers), grow your list with sign-up forms and landing pages, and track what subscribers do once they land on your website.

The company has offices in London and Athens. Its ownership has changed twice in five years, which is worth knowing before you commit:

  • 2021: Sitecore, the enterprise content platform, acquired Moosend. For a while the technology also powered Sitecore's own product, Sitecore Send.
  • June 2025: Constant Contact bought Moosend from Sitecore. Terms weren't disclosed. Constant Contact said the deal strengthens its presence in Europe, and specifically called out Moosend's white-label capabilities as a reason for buying it. Moosend continues to power Sitecore Send for that company's customers.

Today, the footer of every Moosend page reads "Moosend is now a Constant Contact company," and the homepage cross-promotes Constant Contact's SMS, social and event tools.

Why that matters to you: Constant Contact is itself one of Moosend's competitors, and a much pricier one. So far Moosend still runs as its own product with its own pricing, and Constant Contact has described the purchase as an investment in Moosend's product portfolio. Nobody outside the company knows the long-term roadmap. That isn't a reason to avoid Moosend, but it's a reason to keep an export of your list and templates, which is good practice with any email tool anyway.

Moosend says it serves over 100,000 customers, and its customer logos include Vogue, Domino's, WWF, Dell and Lenovo. For a small business, the more relevant number is that roughly 83% of its G2 reviewers describe themselves as small businesses. This is a tool built for people like you, not a scaled-down enterprise suite.

Moosend Pricing 2026: What You'll Actually Pay

Moosend's pricing is refreshingly simple compared with most of its competitors. There's one self-serve plan , Pro , and you pay according to how many contacts you have. Every Pro feature is included at every list size, and every tier comes with unlimited sends.

Moosend Pro price by list size (monthly billing)

ContactsMonthly priceApprox. annual billing (20% off)
500$9~$7/month
1,000$16~$12.80/month
2,000$24~$19.20/month
3,000$32~$25.60/month
5,000$48~$38.40/month
10,000$88~$70.40/month
25,000$160~$128/month
50,000$315~$252/month

Moosend's slider runs all the way up to 1,000,000 contacts. You can pay monthly and cancel any time, pay every six months for 15% off, or pay yearly for 20% off. Nonprofits get an extra 25% discount, which Moosend says stacks on top of the 20% annual saving.

How Moosend counts contacts (and why it's fair)

Moosend bills on unique email addresses. If the same customer sits on your "Newsletter" list, your "VIP" list and your "Workshop attendees" list, you pay for them once. That sounds obvious, but not every competitor works this way.

If your list grows past your tier, you'll see a banner in your account asking you to upgrade. If your list shrinks, you can downgrade, and the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you never lose time you've already paid for.

Moosend's pay-as-you-go email credits

If you only email your list a few times a year , say, a Christmas launch and a summer sale , Moosend sells email credits instead of a subscription. One credit sends one email to one person, and the credits never expire.

CreditsPrice
350,000$350
500,000$500
750,000$750
1,000,000$1,000

That works out at a tenth of a cent per email. Credit accounts include unlimited subscribers, automation, forms and landing pages, and Moosend warns you when you've used 80% of your balance. The minimum spend is $350, though, so for a small list a Pro subscription will usually be cheaper. Do the maths before you buy.

Moosend+ and Enterprise: what costs extra

Above Pro sit two custom-quoted plans:

  • Moosend+ , everything in Pro, plus whichever add-ons you choose: transactional emails, dedicated IP addresses, hosted files, custom reporting dashboards, Audience Discovery, CC/BCC on emails, SSO & SAML login, and more team seats.
  • Enterprise , all of the above bundled, plus an account manager, priority support, deliverability and strategy help, and a service-level agreement.

The important thing for a small business is what's not in Pro:

  • Transactional emails (order confirmations, password resets) are an add-on, not a Pro feature.
  • Audience Discovery, Moosend's AI interest-tagging tool, is an add-on.
  • A dedicated IP is an add-on.
  • Team seats: Pro includes 5 team members. You'll need Moosend+ for more.

If you run a WooCommerce shop, your store already sends its own order confirmations, so the transactional email gap may not matter to you. But if you were hoping to route everything through one provider, budget for Moosend+ or keep a separate transactional service.

Payment methods

Moosend accepts credit and debit cards and PayPal, and lets you store more than one payment method.

Does Moosend Have a Free Plan?

No. Moosend used to offer a free-forever plan but replaced it with a 30-day free trial. Search results and older reviews still mention the old free plan, so don't be confused if you see it.

Here's what the trial actually includes, according to Moosend's own plan comparison table:

  • Unlimited email sends to up to 1,000 contacts
  • The full email builder, templates and AI Writer
  • Segmentation
  • 1 published automation workflow
  • 1 subscription form and 1 landing page , you can design them, but they stay unpublished
  • 1 custom report dashboard with up to 10 widgets
  • 2 team members
  • Email and live chat support

No credit card is needed. When the trial ends, nothing is deleted. Your account and data stay put until you upgrade or buy credits.

The practical takeaway: the trial is generous enough to build and send real campaigns and to test the automation builder properly, but you can't put a live sign-up form on your website until you pay. Plan your 30 days around building your welcome sequence and sending two or three real newsletters, so you know before you're charged whether it fits.

Getting Started: Signing Up and Setting Up

Signing up takes a couple of minutes , name, email, a password and a login domain , and a setup wizard walks you through your first list, your sender details and connecting your website.

Three setup steps matter more than the rest:

1. Import your list. You can upload a file, paste contacts, or pull them from Google Contacts or Salesforce. If you're coming from Mailchimp, Moosend has a dedicated Mailchimp Synchronizer that imports your lists and campaigns directly. On import, Moosend removes duplicates and contacts who have already unsubscribed, which keeps your list clean and your bill lower.

2. Authenticate your domain. Moosend will ask you to verify that you own your sending address and will strongly recommend setting up SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. Its help centre has step-by-step instructions for popular DNS providers. Don't skip this , authentication is one of the first things Moosend's pre-send checks and spam test look at, and they will flag it if it's missing.

3. Connect your website (optional but powerful). Adding Moosend's tracking code, or installing its WordPress/WooCommerce plugin, lets Moosend see which pages and products subscribers view, what they add to their basket, and what they buy. This unlocks the behaviour-based automations covered below and lets you see how much revenue your emails generate.

One more thing to know up front: new senders are given a recommended warm-up plan with suggested daily sending volumes. If you've just imported a large list that hasn't been emailed in a while, follow it.

Moosend's Email Editor: Building Campaigns

Moosend's drag-and-drop editor is the part of the product users praise most often, and it's easy to see why. It's visual, colour-coded and quick to learn.

Layout and content blocks

You build emails row by row, with up to four columns per row. A "helper grid" shows where elements can be dropped as you drag them. Editing is split into three tabs: Structure (the layout), Items (content blocks) and Settings (colours, sizes and spacing).

The content blocks cover everything a small business needs:

  • Text and Article blocks , headings, paragraphs, and pre-formatted image-plus-text pairings
  • Images , upload your own, search Unsplash's free stock library, or pull from Giphy, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox
  • Buttons , designed calls-to-action with icons
  • Product blocks , pull products straight from your connected store
  • Countdown timer , useful for "sale ends Sunday" emails
  • Video , paste a link and Moosend creates a clickable thumbnail
  • Social share and social follow buttons
  • Spacer and HTML blocks , the latter for anyone comfortable with code

At the top of the editor you can switch between edit, preview, code, version history and comments. That last one is handy if more than one person works on your emails: teammates can leave comments directly in the design and mark them resolved.

Saved blocks and brand consistency

You can save any row or element you build , a header with your logo, a footer with your shop policies, a "new arrivals" banner , and reuse it in future emails. You can also preset your default fonts, colours and email width so every campaign starts on-brand. For a handmade or boutique brand where visual consistency matters, this saves real time.

Personalisation and dynamic content

Moosend supports standard merge tags (first name, city, any custom field) in both the subject line and the body. More usefully, it supports conditional visibility , Moosend's name for dynamic content. You can set any block to show or hide depending on a custom field, tag or value. One email can show different products to different customer groups, or a different offer to subscribers in Ireland and the UK, without you building two campaigns.

Templates

Moosend advertises 130+ professionally designed templates across emails, landing pages and forms. Independent testers counted 115+ email templates specifically, and describe them as clean and modern, mobile-responsive, and mostly dark-mode friendly. You can also import your own HTML template by pasting code, linking to a URL or uploading a file.

A few G2 reviewers mention "limited templates" and "limited customisation" as dislikes. That's a minority view, but if you want highly bespoke, magazine-style designs, test the editor against one of your existing emails during the trial.

Campaign types and A/B testing

Moosend offers four kinds of campaign:

  1. Regular campaign , your everyday newsletter or promotion
  2. A/B split test campaign
  3. RSS campaign , automatically turns new blog posts into a newsletter
  4. Repeatable HTML campaign , does the same for web pages that don't have an RSS feed

A/B testing lets you test the sender name, the subject line or the email content (design, copy, images and calls to action). The limit is two versions per test. If you want to compare three subject lines at once, you'll have to run separate tests. For most small lists this doesn't matter, because you rarely have enough subscribers to split three ways and get a meaningful result anyway.

Moosend AI Writer: Is It Useful?

Moosend's AI Writer is built into the email, landing page and form editors, so you can use it on subject lines, body copy and form text without leaving the page. Moosend describes the flow as: pick the content type, set the tone (professional, casual or default), set a word limit, and generate.

In practice, independent testers describe it as more of an editing assistant than a full copywriter: it improves wording, fixes spelling and grammar, shortens or lengthens text, and summarises longer passages. Summarising is particularly handy if your newsletter regularly links to blog posts and you want a tight two-sentence teaser for each.

Moosend's AI umbrella also includes product recommendations (included in Pro, powered by your website tracking data) and Audience Discovery (a paid add-on that tags contacts by product interest and likelihood to buy). Don't expect a ChatGPT-style assistant that plans your whole campaign calendar; Moosend's AI is a set of practical helpers rather than the headline feature.

Moosend Marketing Automation: The Real Strength

If there's one reason to choose Moosend over a cheaper or more famous rival, it's this. Moosend includes a proper visual automation builder in its $9 plan. At several competitors, comparable automation sits on plans costing two to six times as much (more on that in the comparison section).

How the workflow builder works

Every automation is built from colour-coded steps, which makes even complex workflows readable at a glance:

  • Triggers (black) , what starts the workflow. Independent testing counted 32 triggers, including someone subscribing, opening or clicking an email, a custom field changing, a tag being added, a birthday or anniversary date arriving, and , with website tracking , someone viewing a page, viewing a product, abandoning a cart or making a purchase. You can use more than one trigger to start the same workflow.
  • Conditions (purple) , if/then filters that send people down a "yes" (green) or "no" (red) path. Around 30 filter criteria are available, from subscriber details and behaviour to device and browser.
  • Weather filter , Moosend can check the weather where a contact is located and branch accordingly. It sounds gimmicky, but if you sell candles, knitwear, umbrellas or garden products, it's genuinely useful.
  • Split flow , randomly splits contacts by a ratio you choose, so you can A/B test entire sequences (for example, a two-day vs four-day delay before a follow-up).
  • Waits (yellow) , a fixed delay or a specific date and time.
  • Actions (blue) , send an email, update a contact, add or remove a tag, move someone between lists, trigger another automation, and more.

Each workflow also shows a plain-English summary of what it will do, plus a checklist of tasks you still need to complete before it can go live. If you've never built an automation before, that guidance helps a lot.

Moosend's 18 automation recipes

Instead of starting from a blank canvas, you can begin with one of Moosend's 18 pre-built automation "recipes". The current library includes:

  • Automated welcome email sequence , introduce new subscribers to your brand
  • Onboarding email sequence , segments new subscribers by behaviour as they go
  • New customer thank-you email
  • Cart abandonment , triggers when a basket has been left for an hour and filters out anyone who completed the purchase
  • Happy birthday email , with an offer a few days before the date
  • Anniversary , celebrates the date someone subscribed or first bought
  • Repeat purchase reminder , ideal for consumables and refills
  • Special offer reminder , follows up with people who visited an offer page but didn't buy
  • Survey buyers , asks for feedback after a purchase
  • Specific area of interest , sends content based on the pages someone visited
  • Change in custom field , e.g. moves a customer into a VIP sequence when they pass a spending threshold
  • Weather-based re-engagement and weather-based cross-sell/upsell recipes

Every recipe is fully editable. For a small product business, the welcome sequence, abandoned cart, repeat purchase reminder and post-purchase survey will cover most of what you need in your first year.

Where Moosend's automation stops

Moosend's automation is broad and approachable, but it isn't the deepest on the market. Independent reviewers consistently place ActiveCampaign ahead for complex, multi-branch marketing and sales automation, and Moosend doesn't include a sales CRM with deal pipelines. If you need lead scoring wired into a sales team's CRM, ActiveCampaign is the more natural fit. If you need automated emails that respond to what customers do in your shop, Moosend covers it at a fraction of the price.

Moosend Segmentation and List Management

Moosend lets you create unlimited lists and segments. You can segment on any contact field or custom field, on tags, on email behaviour (who opened or clicked which links, and how many), and , once website tracking is connected , on what people viewed, put in their basket or bought, and even average spend. Testers counted nine pre-made segment templates and 33 filter criteria, with AND/OR logic to combine them.

Several list-hygiene and compliance tools are built in:

  • Single, confirmed or double opt-in per list
  • A suppression list , anyone on it will never be emailed again, which protects you from mailing hard bounces or complainers
  • A preference centre , subscribers can choose what they hear about and how often instead of unsubscribing outright
  • GDPR tools including consent checkboxes; Moosend says user data is stored on servers in the EU

That last point matters if you trade in Ireland, the UK or the EU and want your customer data to stay in Europe.

Moosend Landing Pages and Sign-Up Forms

Landing pages

Moosend's landing page builder uses the same editor as its emails, so once you can build a newsletter you can build a page. Independent testers counted 38 landing page templates that match the email designs, which makes it easy to keep a promotion looking consistent from inbox to page.

You can publish on a Moosend address, on your own domain, or directly into WordPress using Moosend's official plugin. You can also add Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel tracking to measure conversions.

Two small niggles have been reported by independent testers: some text wrapping looked off in the editor, and once a row's column structure is set, you can't easily change it from one column to two without starting a new row. Minor, but worth knowing.

Sign-up forms

Moosend supports six form types:

  1. Inline (embedded) forms
  2. Pop-ups
  3. Full-screen forms
  4. Floating bars that stick to the top or bottom of the page
  5. Floating boxes that stay visible as visitors scroll
  6. Promotional pop-ups that link to an offer page

There's also a spin-to-win "wheel of fortune" element where you set the prizes, colours, coupon codes and the odds of each slice. Gimmicky? A little. Effective for a shop running a launch or seasonal sale? Often, yes.

Every form starts with an email field, and you can add any custom field , such as birthday (to power that birthday recipe) or product interests. Moosend reports views and conversion rates for each form and landing page.

Moosend Reporting and Analytics

Moosend's reporting is clear rather than overwhelming. For each campaign you get:

  • Unique and total opens, clicks, unsubscribes, bounces and complaints, updated in real time
  • Recipient-level activity , exactly who opened, clicked or unsubscribed
  • A click map / email heatmap that overlays clicks directly onto your design
  • Breakdowns by device, email client, browser and operating system
  • An interactive location map showing performance by country
  • Shareable report links and downloads for your team

Automations get their own open, click and unsubscribe stats, and forms and landing pages show views and conversions.

Connect Google Analytics or Moosend's own tracking code and you can also see product views, baskets and purchases, so you can tell which emails are actually making money. Moosend's plan table also lists custom events, predicted location and demographics and predicted weather analytics as Pro features.

Moosend Deliverability: Will Your Emails Reach the Inbox?

Deliverability , whether your emails land in the inbox rather than spam , is the feature you can't see until it goes wrong, so it's worth looking at what Moosend actually does.

What's in its favour:

  • Certified Senders Alliance (CSA) membership. Moosend is a CSA-certified sender, which means it has committed to the alliance's sending standards and is on its allowlist with participating mailbox providers. Its site also displays the badge of M3AAWG, the anti-abuse industry group.
  • Pre-send checks. Before every send, Moosend flags problems with your HTML, sender name and address, and tells you whether SPF and DKIM are set up.
  • A built-in spam test. This checks your email against major providers , Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, AOL, Mail.com, Hotmail and Office 365 , and returns a percentage score plus a SpamAssassin breakdown that points out authentication problems, blacklist issues and HTML formatting faults.
  • List hygiene on import, a warm-up plan for new senders, and native integrations with email verification services (NeverBounce, QuickEmailVerification, Clearout and Bouncer).
  • Strong user scores. G2 reviewers rate Moosend's "Manage Email Deliverability" feature at 9.0 out of 10.

The flip side , Moosend's account blocking policy. To protect its shared sending reputation, Moosend automatically blocks campaign sending on any account that exceeds its bounce or complaint thresholds. You're notified by email, Moosend's deliverability team is copied in, and they investigate. According to Moosend's documentation, these reviews happen during business hours, Monday to Friday, 06:00โ€“14:00 UTC. While under review, you can still use the rest of the platform; you just can't send.

This is standard practice , MailerLite, Sender, Klaviyo and others all review accounts , and it's partly why Moosend's deliverability is good. But it has a real cost if it happens at the wrong moment. A handful of Trustpilot reviewers describe accounts being suspended early on with little explanation and slow resolution.

How to avoid it: only import people who opted in to hear from you; don't upload a list you bought or haven't mailed in years; authenticate your domain before your first send; and follow the warm-up plan. If you're planning a big Black Friday send, make sure your account has a clean sending history well before then.

Moosend Integrations: The Shopify Question

Moosend lists 82 integrations in its directory, split between native connections and ones that run via Zapier. It also offers a full API and an SMTP server.

Native integrations include:

  • E-commerce: WooCommerce, Magento (Adobe Commerce), OpenCart, CS-Cart, Zen Cart, ThriveCart
  • Websites & CMS: WordPress (landing pages plugin), Drupal
  • Data & automation: Zapier, Make, Segment, Pabbly, APIXDrive, KonnectzIT, viaSocket
  • CRM: Salesforce (via plugin)
  • List growth & forms: OptiMonk, Poptin, ConvertBox, Paperform, Involve.me, MailOptin, Convertful, JetFormBuilder, Nudgify
  • Email verification: NeverBounce, QuickEmailVerification, Clearout, Bouncer
  • Migration: Mailchimp Synchronizer, Google Contacts import

Via Zapier, you can reach HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Xero, FreshBooks, Eventbrite, Intercom, Zendesk, Facebook Lead Ads, Unbounce and thousands more.

Does Moosend integrate with Shopify?

Not natively. This is the single biggest thing for product sellers to understand. Shopify isn't in Moosend's native integrations list. You can connect the two through Zapier, which offers Shopify triggers such as New Customer, New Paid Order and Abandoned Cart, or through alternatives like Pabbly Connect.

That works, but it's not the same as a one-click native app. You'll be paying for (and maintaining) a Zapier account, syncs depend on how you configure your zaps, and you won't get the deep, out-of-the-box product catalogue sync that Shopify-first tools offer.

Etsy isn't in Moosend's integrations directory either, so Etsy sellers should plan on collecting subscribers through their own website or a Moosend landing page.

So the honest recommendation is:

  • WooCommerce, Magento or OpenCart store? Moosend is an excellent fit. The native WooCommerce plugin enables abandoned cart and product recommendation emails without extra tools.
  • Shopify store? Moosend can work, but compare it carefully with MailerLite (which has a native Shopify integration) or a Shopify-focused tool before committing.

Moosend Customer Support

Moosend offers live chat and email support 24 hours a day, five days a week, on every plan including the free trial. There's also a searchable knowledge base, organised into around 13 categories with video tutorials, and an in-editor help button that links to the article for the page you're on.

Support is consistently one of Moosend's best-rated features:

  • G2 reviewers score Moosend's quality of support at 9.2/10, noticeably higher than several larger competitors in G2's head-to-head comparisons.
  • Independent testers who used the live chat report fast, direct answers.

Two caveats. First, it's 24/5, not 24/7, so weekend problems wait until Monday. Second, as covered above, account and deliverability reviews run on a narrower business-hours window than general support. Priority support and a dedicated account manager are reserved for Enterprise or as Moosend+ add-ons.

What Real Users Say: Ratings and Reviews

Moosend's review profile is strong on the big software review sites and more mixed on Trustpilot , a pattern that's common across email platforms.

G2: around 4.6โ€“4.7 out of 5 from 700+ reviews. Standout category scores include:

G2 categoryMoosend score
Ease of use9.2 / 10
Quality of support9.2 / 10
Ease of setup9.1 / 10
Meets requirements9.1 / 10
Basic reporting9.2 / 10
Manage email deliverability9.0 / 10
Automated email responses9.0 / 10

The most-mentioned positives are ease of use, easy campaign creation, easy integrations and template availability. The most-mentioned negatives are limited templates, missing features, editor limitations, a lack of integrations, and limited customisation , each mentioned by only a small number of reviewers.

Capterra: around 4.6 out of 5.

Trustpilot: more polarised. Long-term users describe years of happy use and praise the support team. Negative reviews focus on accounts suspended for suspected spam with limited explanation, and on billing , including at least one reviewer who forgot about a trial that later became a paid subscription. Treat that as a reminder to set a calendar note before your trial ends and to read the account-review rules above.

  • Automation is broad but not as deep as ActiveCampaign, and there's no sales CRM
  • Ownership uncertainty , two acquisitions in five years, now owned by a competitor

Moosend vs Competitors: How It Stacks Up in 2026

Here's how Moosend compares with the nine tools small businesses most often weigh it against. Prices are list prices on monthly billing unless noted, checked in October 2026. Note that some tools price by contacts and others by emails sent, so read the "basis" column.

Moosend vs Mailchimp

This is the comparison most people are searching for, because Moosend is a popular Mailchimp alternative.

Mailchimp has the stronger brand, a well-established Shopify connection and a free plan , though that free plan was cut again in January 2026 to just 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, with automation no longer included.

On paid plans, Moosend is cheaper and more generous. At 500 contacts, Mailchimp Essentials is $13/month and caps your sends at a multiple of your contact count; Mailchimp's branching Customer Journey Builder needs the Standard plan at $20/month. Moosend gives you unlimited sends and its full automation builder for $9.

Choose Mailchimp if you're on Shopify and want a ready-made connection, or have under 250 contacts and need free. Choose Moosend if you want automation and unlimited sends without paying Mailchimp's prices.

Moosend vs MailerLite

These two are the closest match: both are affordable, easy to use and popular with small businesses.

MailerLite repriced in 2026. Its free plan is now 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month (down from 1,000 subscribers a few years ago, then 500), its Comfort plan starts at $12/month with sends capped at 10ร— your subscriber tier, and its Power plan starts at $25/month with unlimited sends and 24/7 live chat.

MailerLite's advantages: a free plan, a native Shopify integration, built-in website and blog builder, digital product sales, paid newsletters and multivariate testing. Moosend's advantages: a lower entry price, unlimited sends from the first tier, weather-based automation, and richer on-site behaviour tracking out of the box.

Choose MailerLite if you're on Shopify, sell digital products or want a website builder included. Choose Moosend if you're on WooCommerce or your own site and want the lowest price for unlimited sending and automation.

Moosend vs Brevo

Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) charges by emails sent, not contacts. Its free plan stores a large number of contacts but limits you to 300 emails a day, and Starter starts at $9/month for 5,000 emails. Brevo also includes SMS and WhatsApp (billed per message), plus a sales CRM.

That makes Brevo a good fit if you have a large list you rarely email, or you need SMS. If you email a modest list often, Moosend's unlimited sends are usually better value , and full automation on Brevo needs the Standard plan, from $18/month.

Moosend vs GetResponse

GetResponse's Starter plan is $19/month for 1,000 contacts (Moosend: $16). At 10,000 contacts, GetResponse Starter ($79) is actually a little cheaper than Moosend ($88), but Starter limits automation; its full automation engine lives on Marketer, from $59/month at 1,000 contacts and $114 at 10,000. GetResponse also offers webinars and a website builder on higher plans. If you want a broader all-in-one suite, look at GetResponse; for automation per dollar, Moosend wins.

Moosend vs ActiveCampaign

ActiveCampaign is the automation heavyweight. Starter is $19/month ($15 annually) for 1,000 contacts, but branching automation and its CRM start on Plus at $59/month ($49 annually), and costs climb steeply with list size. If you need a sales pipeline, lead scoring and the deepest automation logic available, ActiveCampaign earns its price. If you need solid e-commerce and newsletter automation, Moosend does the job for a fraction of the cost.

Moosend vs Sender

Sender's free plan is the most generous in this group: 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month, with automation included. Paid Standard plans start around $7/month on annual billing and add SMS. If you have fewer than 2,500 subscribers and can live with Sender branding in your emails, Sender is hard to beat on price. Moosend's edge is deeper on-site tracking, weather-based automation and its recipe library.

Moosend vs AWeber

AWeber raised its prices significantly at the end of 2024. Today it has a free plan (500 subscribers, 3,000 emails/month), Lite at $15/month and Plus at $30/month for 500 subscribers, with advanced automation and A/B testing on Plus. AWeber also charges a small transaction fee on sales through its built-in store. Moosend is cheaper and includes more automation at entry level.

Moosend vs Campaign Monitor

Campaign Monitor runs three plans , Lite, Essentials and Premier , and third-party price trackers put the entry plan at around $11/month, though we couldn't confirm current limits directly, so check its pricing page. If you're weighing the two, use Moosend's 30-day trial and Campaign Monitor's own trial side by side on the same campaign: compare the editor, how much automation you get on the entry plan, and the price at your real list size.

Moosend vs Constant Contact

This one's unusual, because Constant Contact now owns Moosend. Constant Contact is the pricier, broader product: Lite $12, Standard $35, Premium $80 per month at 500 contacts, with no free plan and send caps on every tier. In exchange, you get SMS (Premium includes 500 messages a month), social media scheduling, event tools, phone support on higher plans and more templates. Constant Contact's Lite plan includes only a single basic automation.

Choose Constant Contact if you want SMS, events and phone support in one place and don't mind paying more. Choose Moosend if email and automation are your priority and you want the lower bill.

Who Should Use Moosend?

Moosend is a great fit if you are:

  • A WooCommerce, Magento or OpenCart seller who wants abandoned cart, product recommendation and post-purchase emails without an expensive e-commerce-only tool
  • A small business leaving Mailchimp because of cost or send limits
  • A blogger or newsletter writer who wants RSS-to-email, unlimited sends and clean templates
  • A service business (salons, studios, coaches, workshops) that needs welcome sequences, birthday offers and booking reminders
  • A nonprofit, thanks to the stacked 25% discount
  • An EU or UK business that wants EU data storage
  • A seasonal sender who'd benefit from never-expiring email credits

Moosend is probably not for you if you are:

  • A Shopify-first store that wants a native, one-click integration , look at MailerLite or a Shopify-focused platform
  • Running SMS alongside email , look at Brevo, Sender or Constant Contact
  • Under 250โ€“2,500 contacts and need free , look at Sender, MailerLite or Mailchimp's free tiers
  • Needing a sales CRM and complex lead scoring , look at ActiveCampaign
  • Needing transactional email on a budget , you'll need Moosend+ add-ons or a separate service

How to Get the Most From Your Moosend Free Trial

Thirty days goes quickly. If you sign up, use the trial to answer one question: will this tool do the jobs my business actually needs? Here's a simple plan:

  1. Days 1โ€“2: Import your list (or a test segment), authenticate your domain, and add your website tracking code or WooCommerce plugin.
  2. Days 3โ€“5: Build a branded template and save your header and footer as reusable blocks.
  3. Days 6โ€“10: Set up your welcome sequence from the recipe, then publish it , this is your one published automation on the trial.

  5. Days 21โ€“25: Design the sign-up form and landing page you'd use (they stay unpublished on the trial), and test the AI Writer on a few subject lines.
  6. Days 26โ€“30: Contact live chat with any real question to test support, then decide.

Frequently Asked Questions About Moosend

Is Moosend good for small businesses?

Yes. Moosend is designed for small and mid-sized businesses , around 83% of its G2 reviewers are small businesses , and it combines a low starting price with automation, landing pages and website tracking that many competitors charge more for. Its main weaknesses for small businesses are the lack of a free plan and the lack of a native Shopify integration.

How much does Moosend cost?

Moosend Pro starts at $9/month for 500 contacts on monthly billing, then $16 for 1,000, $24 for 2,000, $48 for 5,000 and $88 for 10,000 contacts. Annual billing saves 20%, six-monthly billing saves 15%, and nonprofits get an extra 25% off.

Does Moosend have a free plan?

No. Moosend replaced its old free plan with a 30-day free trial that needs no credit card and includes unlimited sends to up to 1,000 contacts. Forms and landing pages can be designed but not published during the trial.

Is Moosend legit and safe to use?

Yes. Moosend was owned by Sitecore from 2021 and is now owned by Constant Contact, a US-based digital marketing company. It holds Certified Senders Alliance certification, and stores user data on servers in the EU. It's rated around 4.6โ€“4.7/5 on G2 from more than 700 reviews.

Who owns Moosend?

Constant Contact, which acquired Moosend from Sitecore in June 2025. Moosend continues to operate under its own brand and pricing.

Does Moosend integrate with Shopify?

Not natively. You can connect Shopify to Moosend through Zapier (with triggers like new customer, new paid order and abandoned cart) or tools like Pabbly Connect. Moosend does have a native WooCommerce integration.

Does Moosend have SMS marketing?

No. Moosend is email-only. If you need SMS, consider Brevo, Sender or Constant Contact (Moosend's parent company).

How many emails can I send with Moosend?

As many as you like. Every paid Moosend plan includes unlimited email sends; you pay based on the number of contacts. Alternatively, pay-as-you-go credits cost one credit per email and never expire.

Is Moosend better than Mailchimp?

For most small businesses on a budget, Moosend offers better value: a lower price at 500 contacts, unlimited sends and full automation on its entry plan. Mailchimp is better if you need a free plan, a native Shopify integration or the largest range of third-party apps.

Is Moosend better than MailerLite?

It depends on your store. Moosend is cheaper at entry level, includes unlimited sends from the first tier and has richer behaviour tracking. MailerLite has a free plan, a native Shopify integration, and website and digital product tools. WooCommerce sellers tend to suit Moosend; Shopify sellers tend to suit MailerLite.

Can I send transactional emails with Moosend?

Yes, via Moosend's API or SMTP server, but transactional email isn't part of the standard Pro plan. It's available as an add-on on the custom Moosend+ plan, or included in Enterprise.

Is Moosend GDPR compliant?

Moosend provides GDPR tools including double opt-in, consent checkboxes, a preference centre and a suppression list, and stores user data on EU servers. As with any tool, compliance also depends on how you collect and use your subscribers' data.

Why was my Moosend account blocked?

Moosend automatically pauses sending on accounts that exceed its bounce or complaint thresholds, usually after mailing an old, purchased or unverified list. The deliverability team reviews blocked accounts Monday to Friday, 06:00โ€“14:00 UTC, and you can use other features while you wait. Cleaning your list and confirming how contacts were collected is the usual route to resuming.

Final Verdict: Is Moosend Worth It in 2026?

Moosend is one of the rare email tools where the cheap option isn't a stripped-down option. For $9 a month, you get unlimited sends, a genuinely good automation builder with 18 ready-made recipes, website and purchase tracking, landing pages, pop-ups, A/B testing, an AI Writer, a spam tester and support that users rate among the best in the category. Most competitors either charge more for that set of features or split it across two or three plan levels.

It isn't perfect. The lack of a free plan means you'll pay from day 31. Shopify sellers face extra setup through Zapier. There's no SMS. Transactional email and some AI tools sit behind custom pricing. And with Constant Contact as its new owner, Moosend's long-term direction is something to watch rather than assume.

But if you sell through WooCommerce or your own website, run a service business, write a newsletter, or simply want to stop overpaying Mailchimp, Moosend is very hard to beat on value. The 30-day trial needs no credit card, so the only real cost of finding out is an afternoon of setup.

Our rating: 4.5 / 5 , excellent value and automation for small businesses, held back by the Shopify gap and the lack of a free tier.
